USAE is seeking a Project Manager who will lead the planning, design, and execution of environmental and remediation projects. The preferred work location for this position will be within USAE’s headquarters in Oldsmar, FL. Alternate work locations may be considered based on the applicant’s qualifications, ability to work in a remote setting, and willingness to travel for site visits, client meetings, and project assessments.
Experience managing munitions response or environmental/HTRW projects for federal clients, particularly with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), is required. Candidates will manage multiple concurrent projects across all completion phases, including planning, design, remediation, and final reporting. Candidates may also support proposal development, including technical approaches, logistics planning, and pricing development. For awarded projects, candidates will be responsible for administrative and technical requirements, including writing/managing the development of work plans, quality plans, feasibility studies, and associated final reports. During project execution, the Project Manager will oversee and ensure safe and successful fieldwork performance. This includes coordinating with Human Resources for project staffing and employee relations aspects, tracking daily field operations, providing technical oversight, managing project costs/schedule, maintaining effective communication, and fulfilling client needs and expectations.
Candidates must have a clear understanding of environmental and regulatory processes, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Experience managing munitions response projects involving the application of Digital Geophysical Mapping (DGM) and/or Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) methods is a plus, along with experience managing Chemical Warfare Materiel (CWM) projects or projects conducted in underwater environments.
Strong scheduling, cost tracking, technical writing, and communication abilities are required. Experience with cost proposals and project budget preparation, including Excel and project management software skills, is preferred. Candidates must possess solid interpersonal skills to foster cohesive teamwork and communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.
Qualified candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, or a related degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 5 years’ project management or project engineering experience in munitions response or environmental projects is required, including studies, characterizations, design, and remediation. Professional certification as a Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or Project Management Professional (PMP) is strongly preferred.
